North Western School Sport

The North West Region is one of twelve ‘regions’ created to provide and manage representative school sport in Queensland. Our region is the largest geographical sport region covering over one million square kilometres. Our aim to provide opportunities to students, in the 52 schools in rural and remote communities within the region, access to sporting programs at all levels of competition.

The North West School Sport Region overlaps parts of two regions within the Education Queensland boundaries – Northern Region and Central Queensland Region. Geographically the North West Region covers schools, state and non-state with our boundaries extending to Mornington Island in the North, Birdsville in the West, Prairie in the East and Blackall in the South. The North West School Sport Region is split into 4 sporting districts – Gulf, Mid West, Central West and Mount Isa.
