The North Western region is one of 12 regions created to provide and manage representative school sport in Queensland. Our region is the largest geographical sport region covering over 1 million square kilometres. Our aim is to provide opportunities for students in the 52 schools in rural and remote communities within the region to access sporting programs at all levels of competition.
The North Western School Sport region overlaps parts of two regions within the Education Queensland boundaries—Northern Region and Central Queensland region. Geographically the North Western region covers schools, state and non-state with our boundaries extending to Mornington Island in the north, Birdsville in the west, Prairie in the East and Blackall in the South. The North Western School Sport region is split into 4 sporting districts—Gulf, Mid West, Central West and Mount Isa.
